CLAIMING THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION IN UGANDA BY DASF

Despite the educational opportunity, many girls in Uganda are forced to work to contribute to their families’ income or are married early in order for their families to receive their dowry. Schools unequipped with proper sanitary and privacy facilities for girls combine with persisting gender roles that expect girls to perform the majority of domestic work and at times actively discourage girls from going to school create persistent barriers to all levels of girls’ education.

At DASF we believe that every girl has a right for education and that’s one of the reasons why St. Henry’s foundation school was established… St Henry’s Foundation School has a dedicated team of Governors working alongside and supporting the teaching staff. The Governing Board of the school is responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers good quality education and that children are safeguarded.
